A few years ago I wrote a review in which I said a restaurant in Indian Trail, NC served the worst Italian meal I had experienced in 50 years. Now I have to go back and edit that review. The crown now belongs to Mezzaluna! There was virtually nothing redeeming about this experience. When two friends and I arrived, there were four other tables seated, yet everything seemed to move at half speed. It didn't matter if it was the menu delivery, drink order, food order, food delivery, etc. you would have thought the place was packed and understaffed. Had I been waiting for well prepared food, I might have bumped the review as much as two stars. The food was absolutely atrocious! Across the table we ordered Eggplant Parmigiana, Meatballs & Spaghetti, and Sausage Parmigiana over penne pasta. The vote was unanimous at the table. We would not even feed the leftovers to the dog! I have had tomato juice that had more flavor and consistency than what was passed off as marinara sauce. Even the cheese on top was flavorless! What are the odds of the three basic meals in a restaurant of that sort being such abject failures?! Go to your local supermarket. Buy a few cans of Chef Boyardee, or even the cut-rate house brand. You are bound to have a better meal!

This is a good place to eat if you live nearby, need to relax, have a drink, sit outdoor, enjoy some music and above most not drive. The food is good - again not great or that bad. The food is not really the star, more the location and the set up. I had an eggplant parmesan dish, it was good but all I tasted was the gigantic amount of cheese on the top and the marinara was too runny and not chunky enough. Also, the marinara had no unique flavor. So it is alright because of the cheese. The accompanying salad and bread were wonderful. The pizza is another great items. The crust is all butter and crunchy and delicious. The pizza is like a mix between a Chicago style deep pan and a thin crust. Totally delicious. I went to try it out, but may not go again. I may go if the above conditions meet again on a Friday night :)

The food was really yummy but it was the. Slowest. Service. Ever. We were the only people there and it took an hour to get our food, 20 minutes to get soda refill and 20 minutes just to get our check After he asked us if we wanted it!. If you have 2 hours to spare, the food is pretty good.

The two stars is definitely for the location. The best part of my meal was definitely the "house" salad that comes with the meal and even that was ... pretty bad. None of the food had any flavor. I ordered fettucini Alfredo... had to get it over penne as they were out of fettucini -_- I added salt, pepper and crushed red pepper (which I never use) to give the food some kind of flavor. The waitress (I think one of the owners maybe) never even checked on me once!! I waited 10 minutes (I timed it after I read all the reviews while eating) for her to see if I wanted my check... there was only one other person in the whole place!!!! Don't care how hungry I am next time I'll wait til I get home to eat!!!

Took more than 15 minutes to get my drink order. Over an hour to get my calzone and the cheese in the center wasnt even melted and peperoni was not cooked. Store bought Prepackaged peperoni. Waitress carried on that her daughter usually works and her grandson was in the kitchen and the whopping four tables were to much for him. Even though the outside seating is nice .. i wont be coming back.

Spent last night here. The setup is ideal for a balmy night. We were a large group 30 + people. The jazz group playing were very good. However, the speaker volumes were too loud and spoiled attempts at conversation - many shared this opinion.. We enjoyed our wine selection - a California Cab. We chose the fish and chip special. Although it was well done the fish portions were not comparable to what we get at other restaurants in the area. All and all a good evening and we will probably return - not sure about some others. Hopefully management will correct thesound system before they lose their customer base.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening last night at Mezzalunas. We met some family for my Birthday dinner and sat on the patio where we were treated to cool breezes and excellent live entertainment who even continued playing during a downpour under a hand held tamp. Bravo!!! The food was surprisingly great! We ate there a few years ago and thought it was just ok but everything has changed from the interesting menu selections to the presentation of the food. We had appetizers and dinner, one of our group ordered a pizza too because we saw a few go by and could not resist. I had the Chicken Boca and my Husband had the Black Walnut Ravioli both excellent and interesting. For Appetizer we had the Scallops and they were excellent as well. We will definitely be back to try other selections.

Not a bad place but it was empty both times I have been here... I ordered 50 cent BBQ wings both time and though they were not the best wings ever I did enjoy them. I am looking forward to trying the pizza as it is almost next door to a cigar bar I frequent. Staff is nice but the floor at the little bar area was sticky and I found that annoying.

The best thing we had that evening was the calzone. It was excellent! Check out my photo...it could feed at least two people. We also ordered a large pizza... one half hawaiian, one half carne. My dad loved it because it had a lot of cheese. I could only eat one piece...very filling. Reasonable prices and large portions. The reggae band playing in the outdoor patio was really entertaining. I never thought I would see my parents dancing the limbo.

I had basic spaghetti and meatballs and it was the worst I have ever eaten out in my entire eating experience. Can't even rate it it was so bad! Others at the table were very dissatisfied also. The sause was bland and the meatballs were ground beef rolled up no spices at all. Maybe the sandwiches and the pizza are better but what I ate wasn't worth eating! Just being honest, Good luck.

We were thrown an engagement party at Mezzaluna when it first opened and the staff were completely accommodating. The food is good, the service, great, and the atmosphere relaxing with great music. Best thing about Mezzaluna? The award-winning salads. Never have we had such fantastic, filling salads, but these were absolutely mouth-watering and delicious earthy goodness. Pasta's good, drinks are served quick, and they were able to accommodate an extremely large group in a short amount of time. Good people.

Ok place to go if you want to eat outside. Unfortunately the food is not very good. Although supposedly known for their pizza, I was definitely not impressed. The pizza is deep dish style and they have a decent number of toppings but it was doughy and pretty flavorless. The rest of our food--salads, bread, chicken picatta, lasagna and calamari was not good. Not recommend unless you want a place to eat outside
